Prepositions Flashcards

Learn prepositions with your students with these cute preposition flashcards! The prepositions show all the different prepositions with 3 different characters. The cards can be used one set at a time or can be mixed to practice your students’ grammar.

I would advise learning the prepositions 3 at a time. Try to demonstrate the preposition in the real world, as well. A great way to do this is to have your students mimic the flashcard with their own cardboard box : )

After learning the basics (in, on, under, by), it’s up to you if you want to teach the rest of the prepositions. In my experience, I do not teach the more difficult prepositions until my students are using the other prepositions to a native level. The reason for this is that sometimes children can become confused if the meaning is quite similar. It’s always important to learn at the student’s pace.

Try to back up what your kids have learned by doing preposition activities and crafts. You can find lots of crafts on my Pinterest page : )

How to Use These Preposition Flashcards

These preposition flashcards are designed to help children understand position and movement through visual learning and real-world demonstration.

Start with simple prepositions such as in, on, and under, and clearly model each one using classroom objects or a box.

Encourage students to physically act out each preposition to build understanding, for example placing an object on or under a table.

Once children are confident with basic prepositions, gradually introduce more complex ones such as behind, between, and in front of.

Repeat regularly and use daily classroom routines to reinforce learning naturally over time.
