Teaching Ideas
Birthday Vocabulary Practice
Show each flashcard and ask students to repeat the vocabulary word. Encourage students to make simple sentences using the vocabulary.
Counting Candles
Place the birthday cake flashcard on the board and add paper candles. Ask students questions such as “How many candles can you see?” and “How old are you today?”
What’s Missing?
Place several flashcards on the board. Ask students to close their eyes while you remove one flashcard. Students must identify the missing flashcard.
Birthday Party Role Play
Students pretend they are attending a birthday party and practice phrases such as “Happy Birthday!”, “Thank you!”, and “I like your present.”
