Each pack contains simple to advanced shapes. When in the classroom, there might be students who already know simple shapes. That’s why it’s a good idea to always have more than you need in the classroom!

Teach new learners the simple shapes carefully, introducing them to only a few new shapes each day. As with all new vocabulary, it’s not wise to rush. I’d recommend 2–3 shapes each day and play shape games to review and enforce what your students have learned! As a bonus, I have included a FREE shapes poster!

Shape Flashcards DOWNLOAD Pack 1 (Pre-k level / Preschool level)

Pack 1 comes with shapes that also correspond with the free color flashcards pack. The pack also contains each shape word written in easy-to-read bold lettering.

These simple shape flashcards are easy to recognize and full of simple and advanced colors. The easier shapes are in simple colors, and the advanced shapes are in more difficult colors.

Teach basic colors, shapes, and basic matching skills with these FREE shape flashcards! The cards offer teachers the choice to make small or large flashcards! A great suggestion is to print the set twice at the same size and then cut out the shape part of one of the sets. Now you can play matching games with children as young as 2 years old!

Every card includes the shape word in easy to read letters. Feel free to cut off the word part and use the two separate pieces as a matching game for older students. These shapes use the exact same colors as my color flashcards too.

Learning shapes can help kids learn how to draw and also help with math! As a bonus, I have included a FREE shapes poster!

Shape Flashcards DOWNLOAD Pack 2 (Preschool level / elementary level)

Pack 2 is similar to pack one, but it does not contain the shape word. Instead, each flashcard contains a bigger shape, maximizing the visibility in large classroom environments.

These cards come in the same design as the first pack but do not contain the color word. These shapes cards are perfect for really young students who are not at the age to begin reading yet. Don’t forget that these shapes use the exact same colors as my color flashcards. Using them together can create more fun matching activities! Both Shape packs are great for playing matching games and early shape recognition!

How to Use These Shape Flashcards

These shape flashcards can be used in simple, flexible ways to help children recognise, name, and understand basic shapes.

Start by introducing a small group of shapes and repeat them regularly. Short, consistent practice works best for early learners.

Use the flashcards during circle time, group lessons, or one-to-one practice. Say the shape clearly and encourage students to repeat it back.

Once students are confident, you can move on to simple activities such as matching shapes to words, sorting by shape type, or finding shapes in the classroom.

For more advanced learners, you can begin asking simple questions such as how many sides a shape has or what objects in real life match each shape.
